Hi All, Grey Zone Lymphoma is a extremely rare form of Lymphoma discovered in 2008. It has characteristics of both Large B Cell Lymphoma and Hodgkins Lymphoma and there for often gets misdiagnosed as either until common treatment routes do not work. Molecular studies have, in fact, shown that primary mediastinal B-cell lymphoma shares a third of its genes with nodular sclerosing Hodgkin lymphoma, and that both diseases harbor common driver mutations.[1,2] Mediastinal gray zone lymphoma is a very rare disease entity with histologic features intermediate between those of primary mediastinal B-cell lymphoma and nodular sclerosing Hodgkin Grey Zone Lymphoma (GZL) is a type of b-cell non-hodgkin lymphoma with features intermediate between diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and classical Hodgkin lymphoma. Gray zone lymphoma is believed to arise from a common precursor thymic B-cell (from the thymus gland) that subsequently changes and falls along a spectrum between DLBCL and Hodgkin lymphoma. The morphology of gray zone lymphoma (GZL) is variable with tumor cells spanning the spectrum of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and classical Hodgkin lymphoma. The immunophenotype is frequently discordant. Clinically, the initial case descriptions of GZL were primarily with mediastinal presentation; however, a nonmediastinal (systemic) clinical subtype is now recognized.
Dr Fernando Barroso Duarte, MD, Federal University of Ceara, Clinical Hospital, Fortaleza, Brazil, discusses the use of checkpoint inhibitors, including pembrolizumab in gray zone lymphoma. This interview was recorded via an online conference call with The Video Journal of Hematological Oncology (VJHemOnc). Mediastinal cases are often referred to as mediastinal grey-zone lymphoma (MGZL) and non-mediastinal cases are grey-zone lymphoma (GZL). Lymphoma is a type of cancer that spreads through your lymphatic system.
Dec 22, 2009 The term “gray-zone” lymphoma has been used to denote a group of lymphomas with overlapping histological, biological, and clinical features
This lymphoma is called a Gray Zone Lymphoma because it has features of both primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma and classical Hodgkin’s lymphoma Gray zone lymphoma shares features with two other types of lymphoma, classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). Because these lymphomas are treated differently, the optimal therapy for gray zone lymphoma is unclear. Grey zone lymphoma (GZL) is a very rare aggressive (fast-growing) B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma that has characteristics of both Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) and a type of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, called primary mediastinal B-cell lymphoma (PMBCL), making it very difficult to diagnose and decide upon treatment options. Since grey zone lymphoma (GZL) was originally included in the 2008 World Health Organization classification as a B-cell lymphoma unclassifiable with features intermediate between diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL), new biological and clinical knowledge have been learned.

This is your safe place. You are not alone! Mediastinal gray zone lymphoma (MGZL) is a provisional entity with intermediate features between classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. Outcomes for patients with MGZL are reportedly poorer than those for patients with cHL or primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma. Gray zone lymphoma is dened as a B-cell lymphoma with features of both diuse large B-cell lymphoma and Hodgkin lymphoma. It is thought to arise from a common precursor thymic B-cell that later transforms and falls along a spectrum between diuse large B-cell lymphoma and Hodgkin lymphoma; hence, the Figure 2.

Lymphomas are cancers that affect the white blood cells and lymphatic system. This system includes hundreds of lymph nodes, which are found all over the body, and the lymphatic vessels that link the nodes.
